The Khabarovsk dairy brand Rodimaya Storonka is now switching to Finnpack packaging

A new Finnish filling and packaging line has recently been installed at the OAO “Dakgomz” dairy plant.
Very soon, residents of Khabarovsk will be able to enjoy milk, kefir, ryazhenka, and varenets in the new packaging format.

Consumers will easily recognize the updated product: along with the OAO “Dakgomz” logo, the bright packaging features the well-known and much-loved regional brand Rodimaya Storonka.

“Our decision to introduce the Finnpack system was driven by the need to preserve the highest consumer qualities of our dairy products and to move closer to European production standards. We also considered the fact that soft packaging is very popular in the Khabarovsk region, so switching to Finnpack gives us an additional competitive advantage,” says A. V. Gulyaev, General Director of OAO “Dakgomz”.

As one of the global leaders in soft packaging technology, Finnpack has built a strong reputation in the Russian market. Its packaging machines offer high performance, a fully enclosed hygienic design, and long service life. This is why OAO “Dakgomz” chose equipment that produces one of the most advanced packaging types for pasteurized dairy products with short shelf life.

Similar Finnpack systems are already in use at major dairy plants across the Leningrad, Moscow, Kirov, Samara, and Nizhny Novgorod regions, as well as in the Urals and in Western and Eastern Siberia. OAO “Dakgomz” is the first dairy producer in the Russian Far East to adopt this technology. The line has a capacity of up to 2,500 packs per hour. Most importantly, the new Finnpack equipment ensures consistent product quality throughout the entire shelf life.

“In the past, we used single-layer film, the so-called olipak. But this is now outdated: even with perfect storage conditions, kefir bought on the first day always differed from kefir bought on the seventh,” explains S. N. Shkedova, Head of Production at OAO “Dakgomz”. “The key advantage of Finnpack is its multilayer film. Each layer serves a specific purpose — the middle layer protects the product from light and oxygen, the inner layer ensures strong sealing and tightness, and the outer layer allows bright, full-color printing using modern printing technologies.”

Finnpack packaging is also considered environmentally friendly. Compared to the traditional poly-pack film previously used by Dakgomz, the multilayer Finnpack material offers better seam quality and greater reliability.

Advanced raw-material combinations and fully automated production ensure consistently high packaging quality and excellent sealing performance. This is why dairy plants using Finnpack achieve almost zero defect rates. The manufacturer defines an acceptable defect level as just one pouch per thousand. At Dakgomz, they can now confidently say: “Leaking milk pouches? Definitely not our product.”

The Finnpack system also preserves print quality and color accuracy on the packaging film. High-quality multicolor printing is used, and every packaging machine is equipped with a photo sensor that controls the placement of the printed design during sealing. As a result, the image covers the entire pouch cleanly, and—most importantly—no ink ends up in the seams or in the product.

“High-quality packaging is, above all, a sign of respect and care for our consumers,” says Yu. V. Korgozha, Executive Director of OAO “Dakgomz”. “All companies that truly value their customers and have the resources have already switched to Finnpack.”

At the moment, eight Rodimaya Storonka products are filled in Finnpack packaging, including the popular natural Elbanskoye milk (3.2% fat). The plant plans to transition its entire dairy portfolio to the new packaging. The price of products in Finnpack is slightly higher, which is understandable: Finnpack is one of the most advanced soft-pack technologies available today. Produced using a special process, it is environmentally safe, does not affect taste, and keeps products fresh throughout their entire shelf life.
