Belarusian milk will be "dressed" in Perm packaging

Belarusian milk producers are preparing to source packaging film for their products from the Perm region. This was announced by representatives of Belarusian dairy enterprises during their visit to Prikamye in early September 2009.

According to the Belarusian Embassy in Russia, the country has almost no domestic production of European-quality film for the food industry. Meanwhile, the Perm plant “Finpak-Upakovka,” part of the Finnish ELECSTER FINNPACK group, has four years of experience supplying packaging materials to the CIS. Since 2005, the company has been exporting packaging film to Kazakhstan, and in the summer of this year began deliveries to Ukraine and several Belarusian enterprises. In the coming years, exports of packaging materials from the Perm plant to Belarusian dairy facilities are expected to grow.

Elena Ogneva, Marketing Director of FINNPACK’s Russian representative office, noted that the Perm-based Finpak-Upakovka plant was launched in 2004. Each month, the company produces around 200 tons of packaging materials. Most of the output is sold within Russia, while about 10–15% is exported to the CIS. In December 2009, production volumes will increase as a new line is planned to be commissioned at the plant.

The Perm region and Belarus have been long-standing partners. Prikamye supplies oil and mineral fertilizers to the Republic, while Belarus exports its goods to the Russian market.
